Students are already putting ideas into motion.

To kick off the month, we participated in a hands-on business visit to Bluegrass Impressions. We had the opportunity to see custom stickers being produced, watch signs being crafted for a local college, and even observe a cup being laser engraved.

During our Monday and Wednesday classes, we focused on preparing to operate the Sweet Start Café during this year's Christmas at Mustard Seed Hill. We also welcomed guest speaker Mrs. Victoria Benson, who shared insights about managing the café and the planning process behind the operation.

From April through June 2026, The Next Gen Biz Lab connected students with hands-on internships at Frames on Main, Quillin Leather & Tack, Lil's Coffee House and Hopewell Bake Exchange.

Students explored photography, digital marketing, food service, restaurant ownership and baking while learning what it takes to operate a business, show up with a strong work ethic and develop skills people will pay for. Just as important, they gained a clearer view of what they may—or may not—want to pursue as a career.
